Leadfree Enamels suitable for Glass

Various kinds of glass ask for various enamels.

For window (float) glass you will need to use Medium temperature/low expansion enamels.
These are sold by Thompson under the numbers 5000 for opaque enamels and 6000 for transparent colours. They fire at 1400 - 1500ºF (750 - 800ºC) and have a linear expansion coefficient of 80.

For Bullseye and Spectrum glass you will need the 7000 series for opaque colours and the 8000 series for transparents. These enamels have a 90 linear expansion and the fire at approximately the same temperatures as the enamels mentioned above.

For Effetre (Moretti) glass you will need the 9000 series (both opaque and transparent enamels). These have a 104 linear expansion.
